The team at Heels & Toes is qualified to deal with a wide range of foot health issues. During your appointment with one of our podiatrists, we will diagnose and treat any conditions that you may have with the most appropriate treatment for you.

Chilblains are a result of small blood vessels responding abnormally to the cold. They can occur in many different places including the digits, the ball of the foot and even on the legs. Symptoms include localised swelling and inflammation, itching or burning sensations and the skin take on a red/purple appearance.

Athlete’s Foot

Athlete’s foot is caused by a fungal infection of the skin. It can occur all over the soles of your feet, but the most common place is in between the toes where moisture and warmth are more readily found.

Verrucae are caused by a virus and are often common in children who we are able to treat. Verrucae can vary in appearance, number and size and can sometimes be painful to walk on. Like many infections, verrucae are caused by physical contact with the virus.

Ingrown Toe Nails / Nail Surgery

Ingrowing toenails are amongst one of the most common problems treated by a podiatrist. They develop when the sides of the toenail grow into the surrounding skin. The nail curls and pierces the skin, which becomes red, swollen and tender. They can be very painful and can impact on a sufferer’s activity levels. A number of treatments for this are available and where required we can perform surgery to remove the ingrown toenails.

Corn Treatment

Corns are areas where the skin has thickened and are often found on toes, where the bone is prominent and presses against the shoe, ground or other bones. As corns become inflamed, there can be pain and occasionally redness and swelling.

Diabetic Foot Care

If you have diabetes, it is incredibly important to look after your feet. Diabetes can reduce the supply of blood to your feet that can cause a loss in sensation. This may mean that foot injuries do not heal well and you may not notice if you have hurt or injured your feet.

Foot Health Education

We actively promote the benefits of regular foot care and good foot health. During your appointment as well as addressing any immediate foot issues, your podiatrist will provide you with expert advice on how to help improve the health of your feet.

Hard Skin Removal

We can remove any hard areas of skin that have formed on your feet. Common places for this to occur are on the heel, around the toes and on the ball of the foot.

Fungal Nails

A fungal nail infection is a very common problem. While this can look unsightly, it can occasionally cause discomfort as the nail becomes thicker and pressure over the area increases.

Heel Pain

Heel pain is a common foot condition and is usually felt as intense pain when weight is placed on the heel. Heel pain usually builds up gradually but can worsen over time. The majority of heel pain is caused when a band of tissue in the foot becomes damaged and thickens.

Orthotics / Insoles

We can supply clients with orthotics, which are tailor made insoles, padding and arch supports to help in the relief of arch or heel pain. These devices are placed inside shoe yours to help to realign your foot and take pressure off any areas of your feet where you are feeling discomfort.

Removal of Callus

The treatment of callus may involve your podiatrist removing the cause of the pressure or friction, as well as getting rid of the thickened skin.

Thickened Nails

Thickened toenails can be both unsightly and uncomfortable. There are a number of causes for this condition, with the most common being trauma or nail infection.

Toe Nail Cutting

As part of the maintenance of your feet we can cut and file your toenails so that they are at a comfortable length for you.
